Kosher Wine and Liquor in Crown Heights, Brooklyn
Wine By The Case is a kosher wine and liquor store on Empire Boulevard in Crown Heights. Practically everything in the shop is kosher and there is no separate kosher aisle. The handful of bottles that are not kosher say so in the name, on the shelf and on this website, so nobody has to guess at the register. Where the store is
511 Empire Boulevard, Brooklyn NY 11225, on the block between Brooklyn Avenue and Kingston Avenue. It is about a seven minute walk from 770 Eastern Parkway, a few minutes from Kingston Avenue, and close enough to Lefferts and Sterling that most of the neighbourhood can walk it.

Delivery in Crown Heights
Five dollars flat, anywhere in Crown Heights, with no minimum order. One bottle costs the same to deliver as ten cases.
Past the neighbourhood the price is still flat: ten dollars anywhere else in Brooklyn, twenty dollars to Manhattan or Queens. Pickup at the store is free. Outside New York City, our sister shop Kosher Wine Direct ships nationwide.
If you are ordering for Shabbos, order earlier in the day rather than late Friday afternoon. Friday is the busiest few hours of our week and the drivers are running against candle lighting the same as everyone else.
What we carry
Around twelve hundred bottles, all kosher. The shape of it:
- Israeli wine, which is the biggest part of the shop. Galilee, Judean Hills, Golan, Shomron.
- Red, white, rosé and sparkling from France, Italy, Spain, California and South Africa.
- Mevushal, tagged and kept together, for anyone buying for a hall or a caterer. There is a full explanation of what mevushal means if you are not sure whether you need it.
- Whiskey and scotch, bourbon, single malt, vodka, tequila, gin, rum, liqueur and arak.
- Kosher for Passover, marked all year, not only in Nissan.
- Moscato and the sweet reds, which is what most kiddush tables actually drink.
The name of the shop is the point. A case is twelve bottles and they do not have to match, so most of what leaves the store on a Thursday or a Friday leaves twelve at a time. We also keep ready made mixed cases already put together, priced as a case, if you would rather not build one yourself.
Buying for a simcha
Crown Heights runs on simchas, and a hall order is a different problem from a Shabbos bottle. Two things decide it. First, whether the wine has to be mevushal, which it does if a caterer or hired waiters will be pouring. Second, how much, which is roughly one bottle per three or four adults per meal before you allow for the people who only drink at the toast.

Friday closing moves through the year with candle lighting, so it is close to 8pm in June and mid afternoon in December. The time shown on this site is the real one for the current week, not a fixed winter guess.
Around Yom Tov the shop closes for whole stretches. The Tishrei page lists every closure this autumn with the last hour to buy before each one.
