Chanukah and Thanksgiving Wine: A Crown Heights Guide

Thanksgiving falls on Thursday 26 November 2026, and the first Chanukah candle is lit on Friday evening 4 December, eight days later. For a lot of tables in Crown Heights that is one stretch of hosting: a big dinner, then eight nights of latkes, parties and gifts. This guide covers both from one shelf.

How much to buy

The number we give at the counter is one bottle for every three to four adults, per meal. A Thanksgiving table of twelve is three or four bottles before anyone opens a second one, and a Chanukah party runs the same way.

Twelve or more 750ml bottles of wine in one cart take ten percent off the wine, automatically at checkout, with no code. Spirits and other sizes do not count. The bottles do not have to match. If you would rather not pick twelve yourself, our mixed cases are already put together, including a sweet wine case and a dry wine case. Those are priced as a case on their own.

Sweet, for the children's table and the candle lighting

The whole moscato shelf has more.

Sparkling, for the first night

Both are dry, so keep a sweet bottle nearby for the guests who expect sweet. More on the sparkling shelf.

Dry reds, for the turkey and the brisket

Browse the Israeli shelf or all our red wine. If a caterer or helper is pouring, the mevushal shelf takes the question off the table, and this page explains what mevushal means.

After the meal

Herzog Late Harvest Orange Muscat. Mevushal.

Gifts

A bottle of single malt is the standard host gift here. The single malts and the wider whiskey and scotch shelf cover every budget. If you would rather let them choose, there is a Wine By The Case gift card.
