Psagot's mevushal house red - a Cabernet-Shiraz blend from the Judean Hills built to pour all night at a simcha without anyone watching the bottle.
Mood: Sheva brachos, bar mitzvah kiddush, the table where the waiter is going to be the one pouring.
Our sommelier says
Bright ruby. The nose leans red and dark cherry with a peppery Shiraz lift over Cabernet's blackcurrant core. The palate is balanced, medium-to-full, with fruit forward and tannin already integrated - this is built to drink now without ceremony. Mevushal under Badatz Edah HaChareidis, so it pours through every guest's cup at a simcha and stays the same wine. Honest Judean Hills red at a sensible price.
Tasting notes
Red cherry, blackcurrant, black pepper, soft cedar. Medium-to-full, integrated tannin, balanced fruit, peppery lift. Clean, gentle pepper echo.
Food pairing
Grilled chicken, Friday-night brisket, lamb kebabs, hard cheese (after the wait), simcha buffets.
