This kosher Right Bank Bordeaux comes from Puisseguin, a satellite of Saint-Émilion. It is made in the small-estate, Merlot-led style that began the modern conversation about kosher Bordeaux.

Our sommelier says
In the glass it is medium ruby and classic Right Bank. Plum and black cherry lead the nose, over a damp-forest signature of mushroom, soft cedar, and a wisp of cocoa, which is the Merlot-dominant fingerprint of Puisseguin. On the palate it is medium-to-full, showing the fine-grained tannin of Bordeaux clay-limestone, and the fruit is ripe without tipping into jam. The finish is gently earthy and savory. With food it drinks well now, and it will keep for a few more years.
Tasting notes
Black cherry, plum, soft cedar, mushroom, cocoa. Medium-to-full, with ripe fruit, fine-grained tannin, and an earthy mid-palate. Gently earthy and savory.
Food pairing
Serve with roast lamb, beef brisket, mushroom dishes, slow-braised short ribs, or aged hard cheese (after the wait), or at a Friday-night seudah.
