Shiloh's Shor line Merlot in the mevushal version, fifteen months in French oak, ripe Shomron fruit, built for the simcha that needs the waiter's hand.
Mood: The bar mitzvah kiddush. The sheva brachos table where the host wants serious estate Merlot that doesn't care who pours it.
Our sommelier says
Deep ruby. The nose is ripe Merlot of cooked plum, black cherry, cocoa, a wisp of cedar from time in French oak. The palate is full-bodied and plush, with the warming feel of 15% Shomron-grown fruit and tannin that's been rounded by both barrel time and the mevushal heating. Long, fruit-driven finish. This is the mevushal Merlot for hosts who refuse to drop the wine quality at a simcha.
Tasting notes
Cooked plum, black cherry, cocoa, soft cedar. Full body, plush, warming, rounded tannin, ripe fruit core. Long, fruit-driven, gently spicy.
Food pairing
Brisket, beef short ribs, roast lamb, mushroom dishes, hard cheese (after the wait), Friday-night simchas.
