Founded in 2003 at 1,100 meters on the Golan's Mount Odem, Odem Mountain is the northern-most winery in Israel. Alfasi is their flagship, a serious, high-elevation Bordeaux-style blend made for the cellar.
Mood: Bold, alpine, structured.
A Golan red from high altitude, with structure worth cellaring. It is dark-fruited and firmly tannic, and unmistakably a mountain wine.
Tasting Notes
Cassis, black plum and blueberry come first, followed by cedar, graphite, tobacco and warm baking spice. It is full-bodied, with firm tannins, layered dark fruit, and the cool-climate acidity that elevation brings. The finish is long, dark and lightly minty, and cedar and dark chocolate hold through it.
Food Pairing
Open this bottle with Shabbos prime rib, aged steak, braised short ribs, lamb shoulder and hard aged cheeses.
