Mony's Reserve Malbec - the South American grape grown in the Judean foothills, fourteen months in French oak, a less-common kosher varietal.

Mood: The Argentine-Malbec drinker who didn't know it came kosher. The Shabbos table that wants to step off the Cabernet-Merlot path.

Our sommelier says
Deep red, dense in the glass. The nose is ripe and assertive - black plum and dark berry over smoked wood spice from time in French barrel. Malbec's signature plummy weight is here, with the Judean foothill fruit adding a slightly cooler structural lift than the Argentine versions of the grape. Full-bodied with rich, restrained-oak mid-palate and tannin that's settled into balance after fourteen months in barrel. Long, deep finish. Decant thirty minutes; drinks well now with serious food.

Tasting notes

Black plum, dark berry, smoked wood spice, soft vanilla. Full body, rich mid-palate, settled tannin, ripe fruit core. Long, deep, spice-driven.

Food pairing

Grilled steak, lamb shoulder, beef brisket, sausages, hard cheese (after the wait), Yom Tov seudah.
