This is Luxardo's answer to Aperol. It is a subtle blend of herbs, roots and bitter-sweet citrus, and the label says outright that it is ideal for spritz. It is bright red and low in alcohol, made for the hour before dinner.
Mood: Bitter, orange, sunlit.
Our sommelier says
Use three parts prosecco, two parts aperitivo and one part soda, then add a slice of orange. The whole drink is that ratio.
Tasting notes
It shows bitter orange peel, rhubarb and a herbal root note. The palate is sweet and bitter together, and light in body. The finish is clean, with bitter citrus.
Food pairing
Have it as a spritz before a meal, with olives, crisps and salty snacks.
