Koenig Riesling (750ml)

From Dambach-la-Ville on the eastern slopes of the Vosges, Domaine Koenig Riesling is an Alsace white in perfect balance. Koenig is committed to responsible viticulture and low yields, and that gives the Riesling real terroir character. It is mevushal, under the supervision of the Beth-Din of Strasbourg, so it pours around a Shabbos table without fuss.

Mood: Earthy, refined, classical.

Tasting Notes

It shows golden yellow in the glass, with a slightly pink tinge. Fruit drives the subtle nose, and underneath there is real earthiness and terroir. On the palate it is full-bodied and mouth-filling, built around an earthy, mineral core. It finishes dry and long, in the classic Alsatian way.

Food Pairing

It is a natural with roasted chicken, salmon, sushi, and quiche. It can also take on a rich mushroom risotto, choucroute-style dishes, or a fully loaded kiddush spread.
