Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia Extra Anejo Tequila (750ml)

Since 1795 the Cuervo family has kept Reserva de la Familia as a private reserve for themselves. It was also the first extra anejo tequila in the world to be released commercially. Every bottle is dated, individually numbered and wax-sealed by hand, and comes in a collectible artist-designed wooden box.

Mood: Rich, storied, ceremonial.

Tasting notes

Complex and dark amber on the nose, it shows toasted almond, seasoned oak, baked apple and a curl of cinnamon. On the palate, soft cooked agave frames rich oak, dried fig, vanilla bean and warm cocoa. It finishes warming and long, with layers of dark caramel, baking spice and a whisper of pipe smoke.

Pairing

This is a pour for special occasions. After a yom tov meal, serve it neat in a snifter with aged hard cheeses, dark chocolate or a good cigar. Keep it for milestones (a l'chaim, a birthday, a bris toast), the moments when the wax seal earns its place.
