A Judean Hills red built around the ancient aqueduct that gave the line its name - Nahal Hapirim - and priced like a weeknight bottle.

Mood: Tuesday dinner with grilled chicken, the bottle to introduce a friend to Israeli wine.

Our sommelier says
Medium ruby. The nose opens on red and dark cherry with a herbal Judean Hills lift - dried thyme, a touch of cedar. The palate is medium-bodied, fruit-forward, with soft integrated tannin that says the wine spent some time settling in oak but isn't trying to impress with wood. Finishes clean with a savory note. Drinks now, food-friendly, and one of the more honest values in the Gush Etzion lineup.

Tasting notes

Red cherry, plum, dried herb, light cedar. Medium body, soft tannin, dark cherry, savory mid-palate. Clean, gentle herbal echo.

Food pairing

Grilled chicken, lamb kebabs, Friday-night brisket, hard cheese (after the wait), Tuesday-night pasta.

Very solid, easy drinking wine, great opener into the world of higher class more complex wines-the key for this bottle is to let it breath for at least two hours-it goes from underwhelming to impressive with time.
