GlenDronach's Highland house is sherry country, but the 15 Year Tawny Port Finish takes a Iberian detour—aged in traditional casks, then finished in tawny port pipes for a velvet layer of red fruit and walnut warmth.
Mood: Late-evening dram, dim light, slow conversation.
Our sommelier says
Distilled at the historic GlenDronach in Forgue, near Huntly, then matured in the warehouses that have held Highland sherry-style malts for nearly two centuries. The tawny port pipes add color, raisin sweetness, and a soft tannic frame.
Tasting notes
Stewed plum, walnut, dark honey, dried cherry, a brush of cocoa. Red berry compote, fig, toffee, oak spice, gentle dark chocolate. Long and warming—plum, nutmeg, lingering sweet oak.
Food pairing
Dark chocolate, walnut tart, aged hard cheese, or a roast lamb course.
