Gamla Merlot is Golan Heights Winery's everyday Israeli Merlot, blended with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon and grown on cool, high-altitude volcanic soil. A friendly, plush Shabbos red at a fair price.

Tasting notes

The nose lifts ripe plum, black cherry, and a soft note of cocoa over a light herbal edge. The palate is smooth and medium-bodied, with round dark-fruit sweetness, gentle spice, and soft tannins that make it easy to drink through the meal. The finish is warm and clean, with a subtle vanilla oak lift.

Food pairing

A natural for cholent, brisket, roast chicken, grilled meats, and Shabbos crown roast. Comfortable with mushroom kugel and hard cheeses.
