This Cabernet Franc is Ventura's flagship. It spends twenty months in French oak, and it is the sort of bottle the winery pours to show what its hilltop can do.

Our sommelier says
The color is deep ruby-purple. Cherry and raspberry come first on the nose, and with air they open into darker forest-fruit notes and the leafy, pencil-shaving signature that people love Cab Franc for. The twenty months in French barrels read as fine-grained tannin and integrated spice, not blunt wood. On the palate it is precise as well as full, with savory and fruit evenly balanced, and the finish is long and tightly composed. Give it thirty minutes in a decanter. Drink it with food, not standing around.
Tasting notes
Cherry, raspberry and forest fruit, with leafy herb, graphite and French oak spice. Full in body and oak-integrated, with fine-grained tannin and a balance of savory and fruit. Gently smoky, composed and long.
Food pairing
Ribeye, roast lamb, slow-braised short ribs, a hearty Friday-night seudah, or aged hard cheese (after the wait).
