Castel's second label - a fresh, balanced Bordeaux blend at a price the famille Castel wants you to pour midweek without thinking about it.
Mood: The guest who already knows Castel's Grand Vin and wants the everyday bottle. The Friday-night Shabbos table that wants Castel's signature elegance without the cellar pricing.
Our sommelier says
Bright ruby. The nose is fruit-led and lifted - red and dark cherry, soft cedar, a quiet floral note that says Castel's signature in compact form. Cabernet leads on structure, Merlot rounds the mid-palate, Petit Verdot adds the leafy lift. Aged largely in concrete tanks with some French oak influence, so the fruit reads clean and forward without heavy wood. Medium-to-full body with rounded tannin and Castel's house finesse. The everyday wine the Castels actually drink at their own table.
Tasting notes
Red cherry, dark cherry, soft cedar, gentle floral. Medium-to-full, rounded tannin, fruit-led, elegant. Clean, balanced, gently spiced.
Food pairing
Roast chicken, Friday-night brisket, lamb kebabs, grilled vegetables, hard cheese (after the wait).
