A kosher Côtes de Bordeaux from Chateau Lafitte - not the Pauillac First Growth, but an honest Right Bank-style cuvee at an everyday price.
Mood: The midweek Shabbos table. The guest who wants French wine without classed-growth pricing. The bottle that pours easy and goes with the brisket.
Our sommelier says
Medium ruby. The nose is friendly and fruit-led - plum, black cherry, a wisp of cedar and soft cocoa. Merlot leads on plush mid-palate, Cabernet Sauvignon adds the structural spine. Medium body, rounded tannin, oak that frames rather than dominates. Finishes clean and gently savory. This is everyday Bordeaux done right - approachable now, no decant needed, designed to drink with food at a reasonable price.
Tasting notes
Plum, black cherry, soft cedar, cocoa. Medium body, rounded tannin, fruit-led, oak-framed. Clean, gently savory.
Food pairing
Roast chicken, Friday-night brisket, mushroom dishes, pasta with meat sauce, hard cheese (after the wait), Shabbos seudah.
