Basil Hayden is Jim Beam's high-rye small-batch bourbon — named for an 18th-century Kentucky distiller who insisted on more rye in the mash bill. The result is lighter, spicier, and more approachable than typical Kentucky bourbon.
Mood: Soft, spicy, refined.
Tasting notes
Aromas of honey, light caramel and warm cinnamon. The palate is medium-bodied with vanilla, peppery rye spice and a touch of fruit. A clean, mid-length finish with gentle oak and cinnamon.
Food pairing
Pairs with grilled meats, smoked brisket, and dark chocolate. A natural Old Fashioned bourbon.

5 out of 5Basil Hayden Makes us Smile
We love Basil Hayden. This is what we use for our "house" whiskey. We have a lovely old bar in our home and this is what we serve, to each other and our guests (pre COVID). We take the label off so we feel like we are in the Wild West. My father is not a whiskey drinker, but he came to visit and we poured him a Basil Hayden. He not only enjoyed sipping on some each evening he was here, but he bought a bottle for his house too. He sends me a photo once in a while of him enjoying some Basil Hayden at home. :) Pour me a whiskey, just make it Basil Hayden.
