Barkan Platinum Cabernet Sauvignon (750ml)
- In stock
- Mevushal
- Kosher for Passover
The top-shelf Cabernet Sauvignon at Barkan is Platinum, a single-varietal red from the Upper Galilee that spends eighteen months in French and American oak. The fruit comes from the Alma and Dalton vineyards, and Barkan built this bottling to age gracefully at the Shabbos table.
Mood: Dark, polished, ceremonial.
Sommelier's Note
"At the Platinum tier, Barkan gives up some approachability to gain depth. The mountain fruit is dense, and a graphite spine holds the sweetness of Cabernet in check."
Tasting Notes
The color is a deep royal purple, and the nose brings blackberry, black cherry, toasted oak, nutmeg, and fresh herbs. Medium-to-full bodied on the palate, it shows concentrated dark fruit, hints of graphite and licorice, spice and tobacco. Medium-plus acidity carries the mouth-coating tannins. The finish is long and mouth-filling.
Food Pairing
It is a natural match for brisket, standing rib roast, and grilled lamb chops. Next to cholent and heavier Shabbos mains it holds its own, where a lighter Cabernet would fold.
