MeHaMartef, meaning "from the cellar," is Zion Winery's flagship antique sweet red — a long-aged Jerusalem tradition drawn from the deep reserves of Israel's oldest kosher winery, founded in 1848 by Rabbi Mordechai Avraham Shor. The label evokes an ancient parchment scroll; the wine inside carries the same weight of history.

Mood: velvet, reverent, cellar-dark.

Sommelier
The bottle you bring out when the meal turns into a farbrengen. Deep, unctuous, unmistakably Jerusalem — six generations of the Shor family in every glass.

Tasting Notes

Dark cherry conserve, fig, and dried date on the nose, layered with cedar and old oak. The palate is opulent and sweet, with prune, cocoa, and roasted carob smoothed by decades of barrel age. The finish is long, warming, honeyed spice and dried orange peel lingering.

Food Pairing

A yom tov kiddush pour and a Shabbos dessert wine. Serve with cheesecake on Shavuos, honey cake on Rosh Hashanah, chocolate babka, or a plate of dried fruit and nuts at melava malka.
