Shiloh Secret Reserve Merlot Mevushal (750ml)
- In stock
- Mevushal
- Kosher for Passover
The mevushal 750ml of Shiloh's Secret Reserve Merlot is the winery's plush flagship Merlot, made ready for the caterer's Shabbos. The fruit is mountain fruit from the Judean Hills, aged in French oak, and it is flash-pasteurized so that any hand can pour it. This is the soft-power Merlot that is Amichai Lourie's signature.
Mood: Plush, kiddush-ready, big-red.
Sommelier's note
"Serious Merlot from the Judean Hills that happens to be mevushal. Mountain tannin under ripe plum, mocha, and cedar. This is the bottle for a yom tov or Shabbos when that is required and the wine still has to drink like a high-end red."
Tasting notes
Deep garnet in colour, it smells of cedar, mocha, blackberry, and ripe plum. On the palate it is plush and full-bodied, showing dark chocolate, black cherry, vanilla bean, and firm mountain tannin. The finish is warm and long, with cocoa and spice that linger.
Food pairing
Serve it with brisket, roast lamb, duck confit, cholent with brisket cuts, hard aged cheeses, and Shabbos main courses that go big. It is built for a mevushal table that wants a serious pour.
