Righteous Seven Liqueur (750ml)

Righteous Road Craft Spirits of St. Louis made this the first liqueur distilled from all seven species of Eretz Yisrael: wheat, barley, grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives, and dates, blended into a single bottle. It won Double Gold at the 2019 SIP Awards, and it turned the Kabbalistic idea of the shivat haminim into an actual pour.

Mood: Sweet, fruity, meaningful.

Tasting Notes

It opens with cherry preserves, chocolate bar, toasted coconut, and a whiff of dried fig, and the pomegranate and date show through. It is rounded and medium-sweet. Grape and fig lead, and underneath sits a soft grain backbone from the wheat and barley spirit. The close brings prunes, black forest cake, and a rooibos tea note that outlasts the sweetness.

Pairing

Pour it at a Tu B'Shevat seder, at a shivat haminim kiddush, or for a lechaim after havdala. It also works with dark chocolate babka or after brisket.
