A mevushal kosher Spanish red from Yecla - Cabernet Sauvignon with Monastrell (Mourvèdre), the native grape that built Yecla's reputation, at a weeknight price.
Mood: The friend who keeps asking about Spanish wine and didn't know it came kosher. The simcha buffet that wants something different from the usual Israeli red.
Our sommelier says
Deep ruby. The nose leads with dark fruit - blackberry and plum - layered with elegant oak, a touch of clover, and the black pepper signature Monastrell brings to a southern Spanish red. Cabernet adds the structural spine; Mourvèdre adds the savory game and warmth Yecla is known for. Medium-to-full body, rounded tannin softened by the mevushal heating without losing definition. Drinks easy with food at a sensible price; pours through a simcha line without anyone tracking the bottle.
Tasting notes
Blackberry, plum, elegant oak, clover, black pepper. Medium-to-full, rounded tannin, dark fruit, savory mid-palate. Clean, peppery, gently warm.
Food pairing
Grilled steak, lamb kebabs, brisket, sausages, hard cheese (after the wait), simcha buffets.
