This is the Napa Valley red blend from Jonathan Hajdu, a boutique, small-batch wine made hands-off, as the Hajdu name demands. It is a serious Napa pour, and it is not a budget bottle.

Mood: Dark, layered, ambitious.

Tasting notes

Black cherry and cassis meet sweet cedar and baking spice. It is full-bodied, with structured tannins, deep dark fruit, and a long savory mid-palate. The finish is long, dry and grippy, with dark fruit and cocoa.

Food pairing

For prime rib, lamb shoulder, a Yom Tov roast, or aged hard cheeses.
