Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin (750ml)
- In stock
Co. Leitrim got onto the bar map thanks to Drumshanbo Gunpowder, the Irish craft gin. It is slow-distilled in copper pot stills with twelve botanicals, among them the Chinese gunpowder tea it is named for, and it comes in a blue ribbed glass bottle that is now iconic.
Mood: Bright, botanical, oriental.
“This gin tastes the way its label looks: striking, layered, and impossible to mistake. Its tea-driven citrus softens vermouth and lifts a tonic.”
Tasting Notes
The nose opens on juniper and bright citrus zest, and green tea, coriander, and meadowsweet follow behind. Warm spice and oriental botanicals come through on the palate, along with a pronounced gunpowder-tea minerality. A long, dry finish is faintly grassy, and the clean copper-still character runs throughout.
Food Pairing
Pour it over a clear cube with premium tonic and a wedge of pink grapefruit. It gives backbone to a sharper Negroni or a tea-forward gimlet, and it is just as much at home at a kosher cocktail hour as in a quiet weeknight pour.
