Leoville Poyferre is a Second Growth of Saint-Julien, one of the great classified estates of the Medoc. The kosher run, produced under KLBD supervision and imported by Royal Wine, is a rare left-bank cru classe available to the kosher table.
Mood: Classified, layered, ageworthy.
Our sommelier says
A left-bank cru classe built for the Yom Tov table and the cellar shelf alike.
Tasting notes
Blackcurrant, cedar, graphite, and a whisper of cigar box. Cassis and dark plum wrapped in fine-grained tannin, with a spine of Saint-Julien minerality. Long, gravelly, and structured for a decade of quiet development.
Food pairing
Uncork with a Yom Tov prime rib, slow-braised brisket, or a lamb roast at the seudah.
