Cantina Giuliano Chianti DOCG (750ml)

Lara and Eli Gauthier make Cantina Giuliano Chianti in Casciana Alta, at one of the very few fully kosher estates in all of Tuscany. It is Sangiovese with a touch of the local Ciliegiolo grape blended in, which gives a soft Tuscan character and a real terroir signature. This is small-producer Chianti, and it has a real kosher story.

Tasting notes

Fresh red cherry, dried rose, and a soft herbal note rise on the nose over a light savory edge. It is medium-bodied and lively on the palate, with red-fruit weight and a whisper of dried herb, and the classic bright acidity of Sangiovese is balanced by the rounder plummy fruit of Ciliegiolo. The finish is long and clean, with a red-cherry note that lingers and a subtle earthy grip.

Food pairing

It is a classical partner for pasta bolognese, roast chicken, herbed veal, Shabbos brisket, and Sephardic slow-cooked meats. Hard aged cheeses suit it as well.
