Benedictine D.O.M. Liqueur (1L)
- In stock
This is the original French herbal liqueur, from Fecamp in Normandy. It has been distilled since 1863 to a recipe of twenty-seven plants and spices, on a base of neutral beet-root alcohol. It contains no wine, no brandy and no grape derivatives. It is the classic liqueur of the Chassidic farbrengen, and many call it the Rebbe's drink.
Mood: Honey, hyssop, hush.
Tasting notes
The nose brings dried citrus peel, honey, warm baking spice and juniper. On the palate it is lightly viscous and rich, with vanilla, saffron, angelica root and a thread of dark honey. The finish is herbal, long and gently warming, and it closes bittersweet.
Food pairing
It is best once the meal is over, with a slice of honey cake, with dark chocolate, or simply by itself. It mixes cleanly into a Singapore Sling, hot tea, or a brandy-free alternative to a B&B.
