Dalton's Estate Merlot in the mevushal version - Upper Galilee fruit, plush and fruit-led, built for the simcha that needs the waiter's hand.
Mood: The bar mitzvah kiddush. The sheva brachos table. The Friday-night simcha where the host wants serious estate wine that doesn't care who pours.
Our sommelier says
Medium-to-deep ruby. The nose is friendly varietal Merlot - plum, black cherry, a wisp of cocoa and soft cedar, lifted by the dried-herb signature the Galilee gives. Medium-to-full body, plush, with rounded tannin softened by both barrel time and the mevushal heating. Easy fruit-led palate that drinks without fuss. Long, gently savory finish. The mevushal Merlot for hosts who refuse to drop the wine quality at a simcha.
Tasting notes
Plum, black cherry, cocoa, soft cedar, dried herb. Medium-to-full, plush, rounded tannin, fruit-led. Long, gently savory.
Food pairing
Roast lamb, beef brisket, mushroom dishes, slow-braised short ribs, hard cheese (after the wait), Friday-night simchas.
